Many of the sites at the fairgrounds are 30 amp and many Grand Design RVs have 50 amp service connections, this is some advice for power management once parked in your site. It takes a monumental effort to provide power and water for over 600 RVs, made more impressive when understanding the vast majority of these sites are temporary. Please note the following:
Bring a 30A to 50A adapter(dog bone). These are not available at the fairgrounds and will be required for any area that has 30A service.
In most areas, power connections will be at the rear of your RV, and may be a longer distance than a normal campground. Make sure you have read all the information in the FAQ regarding what to bring for power and water hose.
Due to the way the fairgrounds power boxes are wired, you may not use a “cheater” adapter to connect to both a 30A and 15A plug to get more power. The outlets are piggybacked and on the same circuit, in phase and will not get you more power.
It may be possible to run two AC units on 30 amp service, but you will need to use care. The power draw of your AC will be well below that once running, but the startup current is higher and may cause problems. The trick is this: run both ACs on the low setting, and stagger your starts. Start your larger AC on low, wait a few minutes, then start the second. Set the thermostat quite low so it will not cycle on and off. Once your RV is comfortable, you may be able to turn one off and set the thermostat to the desire temperature and let it cycle normally. While your RV is cooling down, minimize power usage from other items: set your refrigerator and water heater to propane (if you have this option), and do not run your microwave or other appliances(i.e. coffee maker) with both AC units running.
If you have been dry camping or running your DC fridge while driving, your converter will run to charge your batteries as soon as you connect to shore power. The converter is a considerable draw on the power. If the pedestal breaker trips when you first hook up, run one AC for a while until the converter catches up and then attempt to start the second AC.

Many sites have shared water with the site directly behind your RV, so bring a hose "Y" to connect multiple hoses to the same water connection.
If your row or pedestal loses power, or if you have water issues, notify your area host, they will know how to contact the appropriate personnel to get the issue resolved.
